Abstract: With the exception of speaking, writing is the most popular and prevalent method of creating connections among people. As a means of building links between individuals and within communities, writing serves as the flexible foundation for almost every type of communications media. Print, video, audio, speech and interactive web media all begin with writing. Writing connects people across time, space and culture. Writing helps individual learn from past, gain knowledge at present and predict about the future. In Nepal, English is second language for Nepali learner, so it is difficult for them. Most people give priority to spoken English due to which problem exist in writing. We know that writing is long process which demotivates learners. It needed active participation from teacher side because involvement of teacher can make a big difference. So, I carried out this study to help the students improve their writing skills in secondary level. As I was doing action research for my study, I selected one of the schools of Surkhet valley where I implemented different activities to the students of 9th grade. The activities which I applied for them helped to bring changes within them. I saw a lot of improvement in written and spoken skills. Therefore, the outcome of this action research is positive because students love to work in small group and group work improved their skills like being cooperative and appreciative with others. Besides, working in group motivated them to speak without hesitation. Quiet one started to express their feeling and submit their work in time. Students’ written text seemed much structured and better. They are now aware of the importance of writing and its necessity. They are confident about the spelling which helped them in choosing appropriate words to make their writing academic. It also helps to boost their confidence in building sentences, paragraphs and even a long text.
