Abstract: | Career aspiration in an individual develops even before teenage as the influence of various inherited and received socio-cultural as well as economic factors. Studies show aspirations of an individual is never individual but familial and social, so guidance and care help materialize the aspirations by removing difficulties from early stage. The main purpose of the research is to explore aspiration formation process in students attending technical and vocational education. Students having technical and vocational education courses in private, community and public (CTEVT institution) are purposively selected for the study. The earlier studies show VET as the courses for poor, under achievers and students of low socio-economic conditions. The thesis explores the process how students in technical and vocational education happened to select the courses they were attending. In addition, this study also explores how the inherited socio-cultural career influencing factors have influenced the students. Class interaction, in-depth interview and observation were the methods used in this interpretive study |
